Hi newcomer!

My name is Lara Obeidat. I am from Jordan but I currently live in Dubai, UAE where I am pursuing an undergraduate degree in journalism and media communications at the American University of Dubai (AUD). I had previously done 2 years at the American University of Beirut (AUB) in Lebanon, where I was seeking an undergraduate degree in marketing.

I grew up in Dubai, which is one of the fastest-growing cities in the world. My entire childhood, adolescent and teenage life was shape shifted by this city. This city surrounded me by so many things that eventually shaped who I am today. In Dubai, I got to taste the international lifestyle one would expect to come with a brewing city however, I sometimes wonder if this is all that I know.

Dubai became my home and the only place that I belonged. But what exactly did I belong to? I could not relate to my culture and I could not relate to the culture of this city. The only thing that I did know was that I could only relate to the other people who felt the same way.

To cut to the chase, my blog is uncategorized because you can’t categorize an international person. 🙂
